How to get involved
As a member there are a number of ways you can be part of the AGM and how CILIP works. The main business of this AGM is to review how CILIP is performing financially. You can get involved whether you are able to attend the event or not, this guide sets out how.
Members can:
Vote
All individual members have the right to vote. You can vote in person or by selecting a proxy to vote on your behalf if you can't attend the AGM. Proxy voting will close at 1:00 pm on 9th October 2018. If are not a member and would like to join please email membership@cilip.org.uk.
In person
After registering to attend the AGM it's important that you read the agenda which will explain what you will be able to vote on. You will receive a pack with information at the AGM with full details. Votes are cast by a show of hands.
By Proxy
If you can't attend the AGM you can still vote by selecting a proxy to act on your behalf. You need to complete an online form and decide whether you vote for, against or abstain on each issue. You can also instruct the proxy to vote as they see fit on your behalf. You can either select the Chair of CILIP Board, Karen McFarlane, as your proxy or a member that you know is attending.
Debate
Members get the chance to debate the issues in the resolutions proposed including financial performance, next year's subscription rates (although no increases are to be proposed for 2019) and resolutions proposed by members. The Chair of the AGM will allow enough time for full discussion and will conclude the debate once all key points have been made.
Ask a question
Members can ask questions at the AGM and a member of the Board or staff will provide a response. We ask that you let us know your question in advance so we can provide the most informed answer possible. We will Tweet from the AGM and do our best to answer all question. It isn't possible to formally interact with the AGM through social media. Please use #CILIPAGM
