Join us for the Presidential Address!

CILIP's President for 2019 is David Stewart. David Stewart is the Regional Director of Library and Knowledge Services for the North, Health Education England. Our Leaders are invited to meet David and the Presidential Team for networking, knowledge sharing and discussion on issues that affect you and your career.

Our second speaker for the evening will be Alasdair Ball - Head of Collection Management at The British Library. Alasdair leads teams responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of physical and digital content. This includes the processing of the Library’s intake of contemporary monographs, serials and e-content; implementation issues relating to building the Collections; Conservation and Preservation of printed and digital artefacts; the development and application of bibliographic policy, and associated metadata services. He also leads a Programme that will further develop the BL’s suite of collection management systems. Alasdair is SRO of the Boston Spa Renewed Programme which will deliver increased storage capacity, redeveloped staff facilities and an increased emphasis on the use of the 44-acre campus by 3rd party organisations.

Alasdair has a first degree in Business and an MBA, and previously held a number of posts in a FTSE 100 organisation. He specialises in strategic and operations management, change management, and process redesign.

David will be meeting our Leaders in London on 16 January, Leeds on 25 March, in Cardiff on 12 June, in Glasgow on 19 June, Manchester on 4 July, in Newcastle on 11 July, in Belfast on 18 September and in Birmingham on 3 October.
