Building a representative leisure reading collection
Read at Leicester: Building a representative leisure reading collection
This event has been rescheduled. If you have already registered you do not need to do anything.
Read at Leicester is an initiative run by the library to encourage sustained reading amongst students at the University of Leicester. As part of this initiative a new leisure reading collection was developed in 2019.
At the same time the ‘Represent’ campaign was launched to help diversify the leisure reading collection. It’s important to us that our collections represent the incredible range of diverse voices of our students, staff and local population. We are keen to include more works by underrepresented voices in the Library and this year have been asking our users to recommend titles from underrepresented voices for us to purchase.
In this webinar attendees will learn about:
- How funding was secured for the campaign
- Using recommendations from library users to help to build a diverse leisure reading collection that is representative of our users
- Creating opportunities for engagement where users can participate in dialogue around representation
- Capturing data about the impact of the collection and the campaign

This webinar has been sponsored by CILIP East Midlands. You can find out more about their events and work on their group pages
