Library Carpentry Workshop Series
12th & 26th November, 3rd & 10th December 2020 - morning only
The four half-day sessions will run on Thursday mornings (09:30-12:30) and cover a variety of data skills designed to improve confidence and efficiency:
- Tidy data for librarians: Learning good data practices for using spreadsheets for organizing data.
- OpenRefine: We will learn how OpenRefine can simplify our work with messy spreadsheet data: cleaning it; transforming it from one format into another; and extending it with web services and external data.
- Introduction to Working with Data: We will look at how to use regular expressions for pattern matching when searching and cleaning data.
- Introduction to TEI: An introductory lesson introducing the Text Encoding Initiative and how to start working with TEI as a mark-up language.
More information, including technical requirements, is available on the Library Carpentry event page.
