Picture books for all ages: how to get the most out of shadowing the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal shortlist
The CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal is the UK’s oldest and most prestigious children’s book award for illustration. Established in 1955, the award has been won by an impressive list of talent including Quentin Blake, Shirley Hughes, Raymond Briggs and
Lauren Child among many others. Most recently, Shaun Tan was the 2020 winner with his extraordinary Tales from the Inner City.
Visual literacy and illustration has an immediacy that often provokes direct responses among young readers.
This webinar will explore how shadowing the Kate Greenaway shortlist can help engage with less confident and keen readers and will explain how shadowing offers an exciting and dynamic opportunity for all children and young people amid the pandemic.
Join us for a lively and engaging session the day before World Book Day. There will be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions about the award and about shadowing.

- Greater understanding of shadowing and the Shadowers’ Choice Award
- Information on how to apply the Kate Greenaway Medal criteria
