CILIP London: Make things open: it makes things better

Data on libraries is some of the most interesting data to explore. Whether it's catalogue data, or people visiting libraries at certain times of the day, or locations of library branches, it offers opportunity for insight and analysis. But without sharing the data, and doing so in a standard format, it is hard to build on the analysis that individuals and organisations can develop.

Make things open: it makes things better

Wednesday 2 June 2021, 18:00 - 19:00

Data on libraries is some of the most interesting data to explore. Whether it's catalogue data, or people visiting libraries at certain times of the day, or locations of library branches, it offers opportunity for insight and analysis. But without sharing the data, and doing so in a standard format, it is hard to build on the analysis that individuals and organisations can develop.

Focussing particularly on public library data we will talk about:
- open data and public open data communities;
- ensuring ethical data sharing and privacy considerations are followed
- data standards, schemas, and interoperability;
- building and creating tools with local and national data
