In this talk we will outline the history of the Black Cultural Archives, discussing its journey to becoming one of the first dedicated archives to collect Black British history. We will also discuss our current initiatives and plans for the future.

Biography
Ayshah Johnston is the
Learning and Engagement Manager at Black Cultural Archives (BCA). As well as being recently awarded her PhD in history, Ayshah is also a prize-winning writer, and has had her stories published in anthologies in Jamaica.
Hannah Ishmael is the Collections and Research Manager at Black Cultural Archives (BCA). Hannah has recently completed her PhD in the Department of Information Studies, University College London, on the development of Black-led archives in London. Hannah
currently lectures in the Department of Information Studies.
