The CILIP Big Conversation Roadshow comes to the South West

We have teamed up with CILIP to organise a one-off event to bring people back together, share an update on new developments from CILIP and celebrate the many ways in which our community is supporting the process of recovery from the pandemic.

CEO Nick Poole will be joining us on Wednesday 6 October, at our annual Members' Day, You will discover more about the comprehensively revised and updated Professional Knowledge and Skills Base online tool, the benefits for CILIP members, and you'll be able to express your views about the nest five-year plan for CILIP.

The Lab at Gloucestershire Libraries

Innovation labs are inspiring, creative makerspaces designed to connect businesses, schools and communities with the digital technology of the future.

Funded by Gfirst LEP as part of their Growth Hub Network expansion, the first innovation lab opened its doors in Coleford library in July 2019 - and back then we would never have imagined having to adapt to the times we find ourselves in today.

Before Covid-19 the lab was thriving. We supported schools to explore new technology, helped businesses to discover practical applications and encouraged our community to make and experiment.

We've missed running our workshops and community events, but step by step we're getting used to our new normal and, once again, the Lab is beginning to thrive in new and exciting ways.

  • COVID-19 Safety

This year we will be hosting a reduced number of attendees in person to aid social distancing.

We will ensure the venue is well-ventilated throughout the day.

We strongly encourage the use of face coverings when indoors (unless you are exempt).

Covid-19 – Speakers and Attendees at the SW CILIP MN AGM and training day

We understand that the room that we will be using will be well ventilated. We are setting it up cabaret style and limiting numbers (approx. 40 people in a room that usually holds 70-80) so that social distancing is easier.

In order to look after each other and keep each other safe we would ask that everyone follows the following suggestions:

All

  • Please do not attend if you have any covid-19 symptoms, even if they don’t seem serious and/or you are vaccinated. You can find more information about covid-19 symptoms here.
  • Please wear a mask indoors if you can.
  • Please use sanitiser. Either bring your own or some will be available.
  • Please remember to wash or sanitise your hands at regular intervals throughout the day.
  • Please remember your own paper and pen, as we cannot share any with you.
  • Please try to keep a distance between each other when you are indoors.
  • We are unable to offer free parking for attendees. When assessing your personal risk for attending, please don’t forget to include your risk via travel on public transport.
  • The library has a Test and Trace QR code. We will also be keeping a list of attendees in case this is needed by Test and Trace. If you become ill with Covid-19 within a week of attending, please let them know.

Attendees & Committee Members

  • Please note that you may attend many of the day’s events virtually, so if you are feeling unwell or not comfortable mixing with others at this stage, there is no obligation to attend in person. Committee members may vote virtually and may provide reports in writing prior to the AGM.
  • We won’t be printing off any reports for attendees, so please either print off and bring a copy or read them online.
  • We are asking speakers to use the microphone, a mask or remain 2m away from the audience. If you have hearing difficulties, please let us know in advance.

Speakers

  • Although we will be doing our best with ventilation, we are aware that projected voices indoors tend to pose a higher risk than quieter social talking, so we would ask that you either use the microphone if available, use a mask during your talk or remain 2m away from the audience.
  • Please try to minimise or avoid giving out handouts.

If you would like to see a copy of our risk assessment and that of the venue, please get in touch: info.sw@cilip.org.uk
