CLSIG post-AGM seminar: An Introduction to ESG
Seminar
Following the AGM, will be a seminar demystifying ESG - a term often heard, but perhaps not so often understood!
The seminar will be led by Jannis Bille, a Corporate Associate at Herbert Smith Freehills with a particular focus on renewable energy, ESG and climate change.
The session will explain the meaning of ESG, why it is important to businesses, and outline various elements that fall under the broad ESG umbrella. To illustrate wider ESG trends we will look at applicable UK and EU regulation, particularly concerning
ESG disclosures, to help understand the challenges ESG presents to businesses, and the possible impact on many of our workplaces. Finally, we will also briefly cover climate change as a subtopic of ESG, which received particular attention during the
last year surrounding COP26 held in Glasgow in 2021. Jannis will share his personal thoughts from the conference.
The seminar is due to run for about an hour, but extra time has been allocated in case of questions.
