The CILIPS Students & New Professionals Community are pleased to present their first event of 2022!

With many libraries shut over the past two years and more people working from home, some LIS professionals might have found themselves looking for a career change away from the library front desk. Especially for early professionals and students impacted by the pandemic, the question of job opportunities remains a weight on many shoulders. So, let’s talk about ways you could share your love for libraries in a field perhaps beyond the idea of a ‘classic’ library role!

In this webinar, CILIPS SNPC’s Eilish McLaughlin and Fiona Borthwick will share insights into their current job roles with PTFS Europe. Coming from a background of librarianship and information management, our speakers will show how their knowledge has equipped them with the necessary skills to work with open-source library solutions. Together they will share thoughts on LIS career paths as well as possibilities of expanding your skillsets. What does the role of the ‘traditional’ librarian entail? Do we really know all the areas where LIS professionals can be employed?

This event is ideal for any new professional still pondering over possible career paths as well as established library and information professionals thinking about a change.

Admission is free. All attendees will receive a Zoom invitation link closer to the date. We’re looking forward to seeing you!
