Digital technologies have profoundly changed how archivists work, what they collect and how they look after and share those collections. The National Archives has just completed a three year programme (‘Plugged in, Powered Up’) aimed at supporting the archives sector to meet the digital challenge. This session will discuss the outcomes of that work and how emerging technologies can help information professionals make sense of digital content – and where they can’t.

Biography

Dr Jo Pugh is Digital Development Manager at The National Archives (UK), where he focuses on building digital skills and capacity across the UK archives sector and data aggregation and enrichment. His academic research focuses on information behaviours in digital collections. He also thinks Die Hard 4 is underrated.
