LGBTQ+ Community Engagement in Libraries & Archives

Tuesday 14th June, 6pm-7pm

Are you interested in learning about successful engagement and reaching local communities with LGBTQ+ projects in the LKI sector? Join us for this online event to hear about the work  Di Stiff, Collections Development Archivist at Surrey History Centre, has undertaken in this area. She will also reveal how developing the collections has been key to  revealing  Surrey’s little-known but important LGBTQ+ history, and how she has worked with Surrey Libraries to create a larger impact for their latest collaborative project,  W hat’s your Surrey LGBTQ+ Story?

Di Stiff

Di Stiff has been an archivist for 30 years, the last 23 of them spent at Surrey History Centre, where she is the Collections Development Archivist. She has driven the development of the LGBTQ+ archive collections and engagement work with local community and support organisations since 2009 and has helped create the comprehensive LGBTQ+ history resource on the  Exploring Surrey’s Past  website. Di is an Ally representative for Surrey County Council’s LGBTQ+ Staff Network and an EDI Ambassador for the Libraries and Heritage directorate. She is passionate about increasing the visibility of Surrey’s diverse communities in both the archive collections and online and over the years has undertaken projects with Polish, Muslim, Gypsy Roma Traveller and refugee groups, and veterans.
