The weekend opened with registration from 4.00pm on the Friday. Dinner was followed by an evening to allow participants to socialise and get to know one another. We had a local artist and a local author as guest speakers. The weekend finished after breakfast on the Monday morning.

- Rydal Mount and Gardens - the home of the poet William Wordsworth
- The Armitt Museum and Library - includes early natural history drawings and artwork by Beatrix Potter as well as an impressive collection of paintings by pioneering 20th century artist Kurt Schwitters.
- Hill Top - the home of Beatrix Potter. Beatrix wrote many of her famous children's stories in this 17th century stone house that is now a National Trust property.
- Keswick Pencil Museum - home of the first pencil, and the Cumberland Pencil Company,
Speakers
Hideyuki Sobue lives and works in the Lake District, yet grew up as an orphan in Aichi, Japan. Hideyuki discussed his drawing and painting, two historic media that have served as a fundamental
means of communication since prehistoric time. There was a small exhibition of Hideyuki’s work at Rydal Hall.

Ian Smith retired in 2014 after 25 years as Coroner in South Lakeland. During his tenure he dealt with a number of deaths which attracted national and even international interest. Ian has published a book called “More Deaths than
One” which was shortlisted for the Lakeland Book of the Year awards.
