Libraries of Sanctuary: Applications in Progress. With burgundy and teal text, a logo of two human figures joining hands, and the CILIP Scotland logo in the top right corner.

130 library professionals attended our first Libraries of Sanctuary webinar in March 2022, with almost 100 more watching the recording afterwards. If, like many of those attendees, it inspired you to begin a Library of Sanctuary Award application, please join us at this friendly, informal follow-up workshop at 2pm on Monday 28th November to develop your application ideas with the City of Sanctuary team and fellow library services.

Whether you’re just getting started with your library’s application by pledging your commitment to the City of Sanctuary charter or midway through producing your plan to Learn, Embed and Share, this session offers the opportunity to have your questions answered, benefit from top tips, and engage with other libraries across Scotland and beyond that also care deeply about welcoming people seeking sanctuary.

This free online workshop is open to all – please register here to receive the Zoom joining link a few days in advance.

And for all those eager to engage even further with the theme of Libraries and Sanctuary, don’t miss our speaker John Vincent’s new book Libraries and Sanctuary: Supporting Refugees and New Arrivals (Facet Publishing, November 2022). Drawing on John’s decades of work in libraries and social exclusion, it is a book for anyone seeking to create an inclusive and welcoming library community – and as with all Facet print publications, CILIP members receive a generous 35% discount!
