Library Manager, Brierley Hill Library and Netherton Library, GLL Dudley Libraries
Katie has worked for Dudley Libraries for fourteen years. She started as a Sunday Assistant and worked her way up to Senior Library Assistant and has recently been promoted to the position of Library Manager at Brierley Hill Library and Netherton Library.

She completed the Libraries Connected short Leadership Course which helped her gain the confidence to undertake a Masters in Information and Library Studies at Aberystwyth University (via distance learning as she works full time)  which she started  in April 2022.

She is passionate about the benefits of continuing learning throughout a career in the library profession. She has completed a number of qualifications in her spare time including CMI Leadership and Management and CMI coaching and Mentoring. More recently she has been learning the basics of Makaton to enable her to run Makaton Storytime sessions to make enjoyment of reading and library activities accessible to all.

At the Brierley Hill branch there are weekly Ancestry sessions and the library also takes part in the Heritage Open Week every September which is part of a national scheme. She has an interest in history of the local area and enjoys helping library users make links with their past and finding ancestors they never knew they had.
