Friday 19th July 3pm
Jemma Singleton, Archivist assigned to the Sir Terry Farrell Collection within Newcastle University Special Collections team will introduce this unique archive. This project has seen the cataloguing, re-packaging and promotion of the architectural
collection which is housed at the University’s off site research reserve facility. The aim was to make the collection publicly accessible and is already being used in teaching, research and exhibitions.
Jemma will highlight how the
project came about and the ins and outs of working with such a large diverse collection (from plans, models, drawings, personal items and business correspondence). You’ll also have a chance to see examples from the archives itself.
After the talk, the Farrell Centre will be open until 5pm so it’s a perfect opportunity combine a visit to the centre and see the current exhibitions. We will walk to the Farrell Centre (5 mins - see map below).
