Leading with Heart: Compassionate Leadership for Library Success

Thursday 10 October 2024, 12.30pm - 1.30pm

Delivered via Zoom

In this webinar, we're going to look at what it means to be a compassionate leader in the library world.

Compassionate leadership is all about understanding and caring for your team, but it's also about guiding yourself with kindness and empathy. This is called self-leadership, and it's a crucial part of the mix.

We'll explore how being a compassionate leader can make your library a happier, more productive place. You'll learn how to listen better, understand the challenges others face, and how to support your team in a way that makes everyone feel valued.

But it doesn't stop there. We'll also dive into how you can apply these principles to leading yourself. This means being kind to yourself, understanding your own needs, and managing your own challenges with the same care you'd offer to others.

Expect real-life examples of compassionate leadership in action, practical tips you can start using straight away, and interactive bits like polls and discussions in small groups. This is for any librarian or library manager who wants to lead with more empathy and encourage a culture where kindness and well-being are at the heart of everything we do. Join us to learn how to lead with heart, both others and yourself. It's about making our libraries not just places of learning, but also sources of kindness and support.

There will be time at the end of the session for a Q&A so that you can put your questions forward to Helen.

Helen Rimmer,
Coach, Consultant, Trainer and Facilitator
The Kind Brave Leader

Helen is a Kindness and Wellbeing Coach with over 20 years of experience in libraries and higher education leadership. Alongside coaching, Helen has studied extensively, gaining qualifications in systemic team coaching, business and personal coaching, and the psychology of kindness and wellbeing at work. Helen is also a certified Strengthscope Master.

Her passion is turning the workplace into a place where kindness and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do. Outside of work, Helen loves to spend time with her husband and sons. She also reads, watches films, swims, and practises yoga. These hobbies not only keep her balanced but also inspire her coaching by reminding her of the importance of looking after our own wellbeing.

Now working for herself, her goal is simple: to make workplaces kinder and healthier for everyone. Through her coaching, she hopes to inspire a change in how we think about work and wellbeing, creating a positive impact that reaches far beyond libraries.
