In this session you will be introduced to digital and information literacy frameworks and how they can be practically applied in the workplace. In the webinar we will look at defining what digital and information literacy is and what the differences are between the two. We will go through different workplace examples and use the Media and Information Literacy Alliance (MILA) framework to illustrate how they are used in practice. Speakers : Jane Secker - Jane is Associate Professor in Educational Development at City, University of London. She leads the modules related to digital education and digital literacies and is Programme Director of the Masters in Academic Practice. She is the former Chair of the CILIP Information Literacy Group, now serving as Deputy Chair of the group. She is founder member and a trustee of the Media and Information Literacy Alliance (MILA) and created a framework for information literacy known as a New Curriculum for Information Literacy (ANCIL) in 2011. Andrew Feeney -Drew is a professional Librarian for a large public sector organisation in west central Scotland, where he has worked for almost twenty years managing public library services. He is a graduate of both the University of Strathclyde and the University of Edinburgh. He is also a current PhD researcher at Edinburgh Napier University, working on a project developing user-led approaches to digital and information literacies in older adults within Scottish public libraries. He is particularly interested in participative and collaborative approaches to information literacy, especially as to how these can be applied in the public library sector.
