Speaker biographies:
Mary Davies Assistant Librarian, Ulster University: Mary Davies is an Assistant Librarian on the Coleraine Campus of Ulster University. After university at Lancaster, Mary began working in Public libraries before moving into
the academic sector and also enjoyed 10 years as a school librarian. Mary graduated from Ulster with an MSc in Information Management in 2012 and is particularly interested in how collaboration can improve information literacy skills. Mary has been
a member of the CILIP Ireland Committee for 3 years.
Ben Williamson Learning and Teaching Librarian, University College Cork Library: Ben Williamson is a Learning and Teaching Librarian based at University College Cork. He was worked in libraries since 2013, largely at Further
and Higher Education institutions around the UK. After gaining his MA Librarianship at the University of Sheffield in 2015, he also spent eight months as a paid intern at a special horticultural library in Pennsylvania, USA. Teaching information literacy
skills is one of the most rewarding areas of librarianship he has worked in, and he particularly enjoys working with students across all academic disciplines in his current role. As the newest member of CILIP Ireland, Ben looks forward to working
with the committee in the future.
This webinar will cover topics such as searching for infomation on Google Scholar and Directory of Open Access Journals; Critical evaluation; Copyright and plagiarism.
