Thursday 27th November 3pm
Home to the largest collection of post-World War 2 poetry in England outside of London, the Northern Poetry Library holds over 16,000 volumes, including first editions and signed copies. The collection covers material from several different languages
and continents. The Library’s collection has recently been reunited and rehomed following the floods that hit Morpeth in 2008, which resulted in the losses of works and half of the remaining collection being put into storage.
The Librarian will give a talk on the history of the Library, followed by a showcase of some special items from the collection.
The event will begin at 3pm and last for one hour, but you are welcome to stay on to explore the Library’s ‘shelves and shelves of sleeping words’!
