CILIP Conference provides opportunities to find out more about the BAME Network, to share experiences and network with colleagues and to take part in a series of events that look at how all library, knowledge and information professionals can be allies in addressing the under-representation of BAME colleagues in the workforce. This includes the following:
Visit the CILIP BAME Network stand throughout the conference
Tell us what you expect from the Network or how you would like to support it. Take the opportunity to join as a BAME member or to register your interest in joining our Allies Forum.
CILIP BAME Network reception July 3rd, 5.15-5.45pm
An opportunity for all conference attendees who identify as BAME to meet some members of the Steering Group, some CILIP staff and the BAME bursary recipients.
CILIP BAME Network Breakfast Workshop: Allyship with the CILIP BAME Network July 4th, 8:30-9:15am
This workshop provides an opportunity for all library, knowledge and information professionals to discuss allyship and the concrete actions you can take as an ally to create a diverse workforce and diverse library, knowledge and information services. We’ll also be using this opportunity to launch our Allies Forum.
Other sessions of interest
Diversity in the profession July 4th. 10:25-11:40am
This session will give space to voices and experiences which are not widely represented within the profession and help to aid understanding of these different experiences.
Diversity, books and reading Panel July 4th. 14:10-15:20
This session looks at how we can do better at getting great books into the hands of children that reflect all the backgrounds and identities in our great nation.
