Rakuten OverDrive in partnership with CILIP to support Libraries Week 2019

CILIP is proud to announce that Rakuten OverDrive, the leading digital reading platform for libraries and schools worldwide, is supporting Libraries Week 2019 as a sponsor. Libraries Week is a celebration of the nation’s much-loved libraries with a focus this year on celebrating libraries in a digital age. Rakuten OverDrive supports public libraries with the industry’s largest catalogue of ebooks, audiobooks and other digital media available through Libby, the award-winning one-tap reading app.

Libraries Week, organised by CILIP, is a nationwide showcase of the amazing work done by libraries and librarians throughout the country. This year Libraries Week will take place between the 7th and 12th October and will focus on how libraries are engaging communities through technology, building digital skills and confidence, and encouraging digital participation and inclusion. Paul Davighi, Rakuten OverDrive’s country manager for the UK, commented “This year, Libraries Week will explore how digital technology can expand and enhance the library experience, increasing literacy and access for all. As the world’s leading digital library company with the award-winning Libby app, this is our core mission as well. Indeed, we are proud to be an official partner of this week-long celebration.”

Nick Poole, Chief Executive of CILIP added; “As we celebrate the role of libraries in a digital world, CILIP is delighted to be supported by Rakuten OverDrive who are helping libraries to expand their digital reach and engagement and connecting library users with a range of digital content.”

Rakuten OverDrive is dedicated to creating “a world enlightened by reading” by making it as easy as possible for library users and staff to experience the benefits of ebooks, audiobooks and streaming video anytime, anywhere. OverDrive provides ebooks and audiobooks to 43,000 libraries and schools worldwide, including 60% of public libraries in the UK and 90% of public libraries in North America.
