CILIP is delighted to announce that Cyber Defence & Information Assurance Masters and Postgraduate Diploma courses at Cranfield University have become the first of their kind to receive CILIP accreditation, recognising their solid preparation for professional practice and a suitable base for anybody entering the information sector. At the institution’s assessment visit on 4th December 2019, the programmes were added to the current offer of the Information Capability Management Masters by the Department.
Helen Berry, CILIP’s Workforce Development Manager said “CILIP is delighted to expand its accreditation programme to this area. As with our information and knowledge Learning Providers, these degrees have been judged against the Professional Knowledge and Skills Base tool (PKSB) and demonstrate the breadth of experience and attributes required for a skilled information professional in the security sector”.
Independent assessor, Ann Hindson, praised the interesting mixture of delivery methods, teaching materials and assignments which allow students to understand theories and then apply them to real world examples in a very fast changing subject area.
Ross Harris, Information & Cyber Programme Director said “Information is a strategic asset, the value of which needs to be understood by organisations so that that it can be used to its full advantage. As a strategic asset its value is recognised by a range of stakeholders and with this come a variety of cyber threats. The collection, storage, analysis, use and cyber security of information represents major challenges and opportunities for all professions and I and my team are delighted and proud that our courses, that support the development of agile professionals for a digital world, have been recognised with accreditation by CILIP.”
CILIP’s Learning Provider accreditation programme is designed to help students choose information career programmes that cover the essential skills and knowledge, and have been rigorously assessed by CILIP. Accredited programmes are assessed using the CILIP PKSB which identifies the core knowledge and skills of the very broad information profession.
