CILIP welcomes NLT research into Primary School Libraries

CILIP has been pleased to work with the National Literacy Trust (NLT) on the Primary School Library Review, announced today to coincide with Cressida Cowell’s call for an £100m investment in literacy and reading.

This important research will shine a light on the question of library provision in Primary Schools across the UK, highlighting the vital role of early intervention to foster literacy and a love of reading for children everywhere.

CILIP believes that Primary Schools and early years interventions supported by dedicated library professionals are vital to develop the skills and confidence young people need to succeed. As we begin to chart a course to post-COVID recovery, this Research is an important opportunity to develop the evidence-base we need to drive future planning.

We encourage our members in all sectors to respond to the research and to share the call for evidence with your networks.
