Get ready for Libraries Week 2020

CILIP is delighted to launch campaign assets for Libraries Week 2021, recognising the amazing contribution that libraries make to their communities as drivers for inclusion, sustainability, social mobility and community cohesion.

Libraries Week is a weeklong celebration of the nation’s much-loved libraries organised by CILIP, with a focus this year on celebrating the central role of libraries in supporting active and engaged communities. Taking place between the 4th and 10th October, the campaign will showcase how libraries are supporting local recovery, delivering services to meet the diverse needs of their community and helping to combat loneliness and improve wellbeing.

The 2021 campaign assets include downloadable posters in four eye-catching designs, editable templates and accompanying social media graphics for libraries to promote their services and activities online and showcase how they are taking action and changing lives.

Chief Executive of CILIP, Nick Poole, commented: “Libraries are uniquely placed, in the heart of our communities, to support not only economic recovery but helping to build stronger and more resilient communities. If we are going to ‘Build Back Better’ from the pandemic and the difficulties faced in the last 18 months, we should be celebrating our libraries as the real foundations of a prosperous and inclusive future society."

"We know that a modern library service can provide a real ‘beating heart’ for communities through the range of inclusive social and cultural activities they offer. Libraries are already playing a vital role in the pandemic recovery through engaging and connecting individuals, combatting loneliness, supporting jobseekers and helping children and young people reengage with learning.
This Libraries Week I am thrilled to be celebrating the transformative power of libraries and librarians and the active difference that they make for their users and communities.”

Libraries Week 2021is sponsored by Nielsen Book and Bolinda UK Ltd. As a leading provider of services to the book industry, Nielsen Book aids the discovery and purchase, distribution and measurement of book borrowing to help libraries meet the needs of their users.
