CILIP is pleased to announce the call-for-nominations for candidates wishing to stand for election as either Vice President or a Trustee of the CILIP Board from January 2022. This year, there are two vacancies for full Trustees and one
for Vice President (who as per our governing documents would become President in 2023).
As part of the commitments set out in our Changing Lives Position Statement, we are particularly keen to attract candidates from BAME or other under-represented communities in
our profession.
This is an exciting time to be part of the leadership of your professional body. CILIP is developing a new 5-year strategy which will see us continue the process of modernisation begun during our last 5-year Action Plan, Securing the Future.
As we continue to adapt our offer to meet the changing needs of members working in knowledge, information, libraries and data, we are seeking people with the skills and experience to shape our future direction as the only organisation
worldwide operating under Royal Charter to support this professional community.
As a Trustee, you will be expected to participate in and attend between 4-5 meetings a year and to bring your expertise and experience to bear to ensure that we are well-governed and accountable to our members.
As Vice President, you will work with the President to champion and advocate for the profession, including through public speaking engagements and interviews. On completion of a year as Vice President, you will automatically become CILIP
President, and we will work with you to develop a Presidential programme based around one of our four strategic priorities: Advocacy, Professional Development, Community or Changing Lives (EDI).
For full information on how to self-nominate, please see guidance notes and nomination forms for joining the CILIP Board and becoming Vice President. Candidates must
generally be an ordinary member of CILIP on submission of their nomination, and not disqualified from holding office as a Trustee, or be willing to join within one month of submission. If you would like to discuss any aspect of your
nomination, please contact Denise Hawkes at denise.hawkes@cilip.org.uk.
