CILIP is delighted to launch the new, comprehensively revised and updated, version of the Professional Knowledge and Skills Base online tool.

The Professional Knowledge and Skills Base is the sector skills standard for the information, knowledge, library and data profession. The revised edition has been developed in consultation with employers, practitioners, sector experts and learning providers across the entire sector. It is recognised as the foundation of learning and skills development for the profession and often referred to as the “PKSB” by the community.

Users will find the new online tool has better functionality and reporting, an up-to-date selection of skills and knowledge areas, and provides an all-round better experience for the user. It functions as a framework for identifying and self-assessing any skills gaps helping candidates plan and develop for their career. For members looking for a new role, the PKSB online tool provides a map to identify strengths and help build a more effective CV.

CILIP provides access to the newly revised PKSB content with a suite of resources for a variety of groups including individuals, employers and anyone involved in teaching and training for the information profession. For CILIP members the PKSB online tool provides the best access and functionality.
