The Professional Knowledge and Skills Base is the sector skills standard for the information, knowledge, library and data profession. The revised edition has been developed in consultation with employers,
practitioners, sector experts and learning providers across the entire sector. It is recognised as the foundation of learning and skills development for the profession and often referred to as the “PKSB” by the community.
Users will find the new online tool has better functionality and reporting, an up-to-date selection of skills and knowledge areas, and provides an all-round better experience for the user. It functions as a framework for identifying and
self-assessing any skills gaps helping candidates plan and develop for their career. For members looking for a new role, the PKSB online tool provides a map to identify strengths and help build a more effective CV.
