Local Government Association undertakes Workforce Mapping Survey
CILIP is pleased to announce that the Local Government Association (LGA) has been contracted to undertake a Workforce Mapping Survey of the library, archives, records, information and knowledge sector.
CILIP and the Archives and Records Association (ARA) jointly convened a Workforce Data Consortium to fund the survey which builds on the previous Workforce Mapping carried out in 2015 by CILIP
and ARA. The insights gathered from that mapping exercise led to the creation of CILIP Pathways and the establishment of our Diversity Networks.
The Local Government Association was commissioned as it has a proven track record of workforce survey and mapping, and of adding value through the creation of usable business intelligence for sectors.
The Workforce Mapping project has co-funded the establishment and ongoing maintenance of a UK-wide Workforce Dataset that CILIP and the ARA will seek to replicate and refresh every four years. The desired output alongside the raw datasets
is a final report focused on the business use of the data provided by the workforce survey, for use by the members of the consortium and to the benefit of the sector at large.
