The Society of College, National and University Libraries (SCONUL), has joined the Green Libraries Campaign as a partner organisation.
The Green Libraries Campaign is the next phase of the Green Libraries Partnership, which connected libraries across England through the national Green Libraries Week campaign, allocated funding that enabled libraries to launch green
activities, and ran the inaugural Green Libraries conference for knowledge sharing and green networking.
As a sponsor, SCONUL will support the Green Libraries Campaign in growing and evolving, to launch new campaigns and activities so that libraries can continue to lead the way in environmental action.
Lisa McLaren, Deputy Director at SCONUL, said:
“SCONUL is delighted to join the Green Libraries Campaign as a partner organisation. Sustainability is a cross-cutting theme in our new strategy, and we are working on a range of initiatives in this area. We are looking
forward to working with the other partners to support libraries build environmental action in their communities”
SCONUL represents all university libraries in the UK and Ireland, irrespective of mission group, as well as national libraries and many libraries with collections of national significance.
SCONUL encompasses almost 190 institutional members and promotes awareness of the role of academic libraries in supporting research excellence and student achievement and employability, and represents their views
and interests to government, regulators and other stakeholders.
The Green Libraries team at CILIP is looking forward to working alongside SCONUL and our other partners to continue developing the Green Libraries Campaign.
