Global leaders, thinkers, and activists from industry and politics will gather today in Dubai for the first day of COP28 to rethink, reboot, and refocus the climate agenda.
Meanwhile libraries across the UK and beyond have been working hard to bring climate action and awareness to their communities as part of the Green Libraries Partnership.
Now, the Green Libraries Partnership is becoming the Green Libraries Campaign, with the first round of funding, generously provided by Arts Council England, now finished.
The Green Libraries partnership gathered unprecedented momentum during its first year.
100s of libraries have signed the manifesto, the partnership secured a first round of funding that supported 15 libraries across England to take environmental action, the first ever Green Libraries Conference was a sell-out
success, and Green Libraries Week turned 250+ libraries green in October 2023.
The Green Libraries Campaign will build on the success of the Green Libraries Partnership to secure new funding and new opportunities and environmental action for Libraries and partners.
There are many ways to support the Green Libraries Campaign.
Businesses and library services providers can become sponsors and provide vitally needed funding for libraries to continue their green actions and activities.
Library supporters can make donations to help the campaign grow and develop the partnership to create new opportunities for collaboration.
Librarians and library staff can sign the Green Library Manifesto, join the partnership and start taking action on climate today.
