Honorary Fellowship has been awarded by CILIP and its predecessor the Library Association since 1896. It is the highest recognition given to a person who has made an outstanding contribution to the library and information world.
Members are invited to put forward nominations by the close of play 30th July following the criteria and using the nominations form listed on the Honorary Fellowship page
Nominating someone for honorary fellowship is a way for the entire profession to acknowledge people who have made a lasting difference to the wider world either through their work as a knowledge or information professional or librarian or more broadly through their support for our professional community.
Last year's recipeints of Honorary Fellowship were Joseph Coelho, Alison Wheeler, and Briony Birdi in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the library and information sectors.

All nominations are made in strict confidence and the Honorary Fellows for 2024 will be announced at the CILIP AGM.
Please note, being awarded Honorary Fellowship has no impact on an individual's existing membership rate/category.
Digital Leadership for Libraries
Digital Leadership for Libraries is a free, online learning course comprised of five open-access, modules created for public library workers, volunteers and apprentices. The modules are intended to create engagement with the principles and values of being a digital leader in public libraries.
