UK Library professionals elected to IFLA leadership roles
CILIP congratulates a cohort of outstanding UK library professionals who have been elected to serve on committees and the Governing Board of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) for 2025–2027.
As the global voice of the library and information profession, IFLA brings together innovators, thought leaders and practitioners from around the world to shape the future of knowledge services. Its network of over 50 committees spans
areas from sustainability and literacy to rare books, library buildings and children's services.
These elections, held every two years, are an opportunity for UK professionals to help shape global policy, strengthen their knowledge while sharing UK expertise, and collaborate with colleagues across borders. We're delighted to see CILIP
members past and present taking up this challenge.

IFLA's volunteer-led committees don't just drive policy — they accelerate innovation and amplify impact across sectors and borders. By sharing solutions, co-creating resources, and fostering global partnerships, these roles help library
professionals bring new ideas and opportunities home to their communities.
CILIP is a long-standing member of IFLA and encourages UK-based professionals to explore how they can get involved in international work through nominations, working groups, and knowledge exchange.
Sue Lacy-Bryant, CILIP President said:
"Volunteering with IFLA is a powerful way to contribute to the future of our profession while connecting with a global network of peers. We are looking forward to working with our members and the wider international community as the information
and knowledge sector spearheads growth in the best interests of the communities we serve.
"We're proud of the UK's strong representation and thank all those who are stepping forward to serve."
