Give a helping hand…become a CILIP mentor for our Chartership for Knowledge Management candidates

Are you interested in becoming a CILIP mentor? CILIP is running an online course to provide participants with a background to mentoring, to develop the appropriate skills and to learn more about the CILIP scheme and supporting our Chartership for Knowledge Management candidates.

This course is available to CILIP members who have achieved MCLIP or FCLIP and who have some experience of Knowledge Management.

The course is free of charge and runs online in the CILIP VLE, supported by moderators who facilitate discussion and activities. There are a range of compulsory activities to complete, with live webinars where you will get to practice being a mentor. The course is equivalent to the one-day face-to-face session that CILIP runs, so you can expect to spend up to seven hours to complete the activities over the six-week period.

The course runs for six weeks from 1 April 2019, with live webinars held in the second and third weeks, and closes on 13 May.

Whilst the course is self-paced and can completed in less than six weeks all participants will need to attend one of the live webinars to complete the course. We will offer a range of day /time options for the webinars over weeks two and three; and you will be asked to choose which webinar you wish to attend in week one of the course.

By the end of the course you will have:

  • An awareness of mentoring and the role and function of the mentor
  • The opportunity to explore and experience mentoring
  • An understanding of the CILIP Chartership for Knowledge Management scheme and candidate support
If you're interested in getting involved. register on our events page.
