The purpose of the APPG LInK is to highlight the value and impact of knowledge, information and libraries in the UK.

This is a new APPG which has replaced the Libraries APPG from the previous Parliament.

The APPG focuses on:

• The contribution of knowledge and information to social, economic and industrial development in the UK
• The role of librarians and information professionals in informing, educating and inspiring current and future generations through literacy, learning and reading
• Promoting equality, equity, representation and intercultural dialogue through libraries, information and knowledge services
• The role of knowledge management in enhancing productivity, competitiveness and innovation for UK enterprises
• The role of libraries as anchor institutions and cultural hubs within their local communities
• The role of knowledge, information and libraries in contributing to soft power, international collaboration and cultural diplomacy
• Ensuring that every part of the UK benefits from access to and support from professionally-run library, information and knowledge services
• Strengthening democratic participation and engagement through the promotion of information literacy and combatting misinformation and online harms;
• Promoting the value and preservation of specialist knowledge, collections and expertise as a resource for research and development.
