Monetary awards made to applicants are varied to cover essential household repairs, warm clothing, white goods, furniture etc. The Fund has intervened in situations where members face unmeetable but short term, financial outgoings that could have led to
serious consequences or while waiting for funds to be freed up elsewhere. On occasions the Benevolent Fund works in partnership with another benevolent fund contributing 50/50 to an identifiable need.
The work of the BF can have a far-reaching benefit with appropriate intervention and applies to members of all ages and concerns. Claims are carefully considered and often identify areas of support that may short circuit a persistent financial
impasse, ease a disability or address a short term matter, thereby lifting a weight from a person's or family's hardship and enabling self-determination and independence for the future.
