The Copyright Conference has long been the vehicle to discuss big ideas and attracts well-established speakers and thought leaders in the field of copyright.
Every year we put out a call for speakers to join us in delivering lightning talks around the theme of copyright and/or licence management, particularly within the contexts of libraries, universities and cultural heritage organisations. In particular, we like to hear from people who are new to conference speaking and who want to share new initiatives and/or best practices in copyright management and/or copyright licensing that they would like to share at the session.
Lightning talks are a great way to introduce yourself at a conference and get delegates talking about a particular topic. They are also a great chance to experience being a speaker at a conference for the first time. Each lightning talks last eight minutes (with or without slides) and there are opportunities for delegates to ask questions at the end of the presentations. Successful applicants receive a complimentary delegate place for the day.
Delegates in attendance are usually already in copyright roles and therefore sessions should be pitched at an appropriate level for a professional audience with existing working knowledge of copyright.
Please complete the submission form below by Midnight 30th January 2026.
We particularly welcome applications from professionals who are underrepresented in the library, knowledge and information sector, including people from ethnically diverse, LGBTQ+ and working-class backgrounds, people with experience of disability and those who are neuro-diverse, as well as people working at any level who have never spoken at a conference or event such as this before.
