Call for Lightning Speakers

After a hugely successful launch event this year, the Data Protection Conference returns in June 2026, and will once again welcome thought leaders and established experts to discuss big ideas in the fields of data protection, cyber security and privacy.

As last year, we are putting out a call for speakers to join us in delivering lightning talks around the theme of data protection, privacy and/or cyber security, particularly within the contexts of libraries, education, healthcare and cultural heritage organisations.

In particular, we like to hear from people who are new to conference speaking and who want to share new initiatives and/or best practices in GDPR, data privacy, compliance and regulation that they would like to share at the session.

Lightning talks are a great way to introduce yourself at a conference and get delegates talking about a particular topic. They are also a great chance to experience being a speaker at a conference for the first time. Each lightning talks last eight minutes (with or without slides) and there are opportunities for delegates to ask questions at the end of the presentations.
Successful applicants receive a complimentary delegate place for the day.

Delegates in attendance are usually in roles with responsibility or links to data protection compliance, and therefore sessions should be pitched at an appropriate level for a professional audience with existing working knowledge.
