Approaches to Teaching Information Literacy in Practice - Online

This half-day training session will now be delivered online on Friday 1 May 2020

This training will be run virtually through online software Zoom which is optimal for audience participation and provides free, accessible and remote access to anyone, anywhere with a compatible device and internet connection.

What information literacy means to students in school or further education can be very different to how this is interpreted in terms of the skills needed for success in higher education. This half-day webinar based training explores routes for transition drawing on the experience of delegates and provides opportunities for exploring how to develop lessons that focus on 21st century learning skills. 

Led by experienced trainers Dr Jane Secker and Sarah Pavey, this webinar training will enable attendees to understand the terminology of information literacy, critical literacy and digital literacy and how these terms may be used within different education levels. It will also look at how to embed information literacy and ensure continuity of teaching practices within different disciplines by sharing experiences of collaboration with teachers and academic staff.

This training is for library and information staff at all levels. It is particularly suitable for those working in further education, academic, school and public library settings who are new to teaching information literacy or who are looking to brush up their skills.

 

How it will work

The online training will consist of two one hour webinars on Friday 1 May.

The first will run from 10am-11am and the second from 12pm-1pm. There will be optional tasks for delegates in the break.
