Expectations of CILIP

Four expectations of CILIP

Recognition

We are the only organisation in the world operating under Royal Charter to recognise the skills and competencies of librarians, information and knowledge management professionals (and to accredit services and suppliers). We will help our members succeed by offering market leading professional recognition and certification that is recognised and endorsed by employers in all sectors and worldwide, based on our Royal Charter.

Representation

We are the leading independent representative voice for library, knowledge and information professionals in all sectors. We will increase the visibility and influence of our profession, representing the interests of our members with employers, decision-makers, the public and the media.

Expertise

We are responsible for the world’s leading Sector Skills Standard for information professionals, a vital, living connection between future demand and the supply of skills. We will celebrate the expertise of our members and support them in their skills development and CPD in order to maintain professional standards.

Community

We are the largest and most diverse cross-sector information professional community outside the US & China. We will grow and nurture our membership as a professional Community of Practice, supporting knowledge exchange and unlocking the expertise, know-how and creativity of our members.
