Overview

This course will help you to develop a greater understanding of metadata and the data elements available to libraries to better understand your users and inform your decision-making on buying and stock selection. Get to know book market trends
to help you better cater to your readers, gain an understanding of thema, how it relates to libraries and how to use it in stock selection. And LibScan participants will learn how to access a wealth of information on your loans and those
across the UK through some basic reports.
Session 1: Discovery Part 1
Discover how a bibliographic record is created and maintained from generating an ISBN through to adding enriched elements and classifying the title. We will look at how metadata drives the book supply chain and focus on the data elements which
