The third Green Libraries Conference took place on 27 October 2025 and showcased various sector work towards sustainability. There were three keynote speeches made by Baroness Twycross - DCMS Minister responsible for Public Libraries and Member
of the House of Lords, Amina Shah - National Librarian and Chief Executive at the National Library of Scotland and Gordon Johnstone - Scottish AI Alliance.
Over 180 delegates representing libraries across the sector came together at Kings Place in London to discuss the unique position libraries hold in raising awareness and taking action in the environment.
The Conference created opportunities for delegates to reflect on the role of libraries, both across the sector and as a worldwide community of professionals, to share practical advice and lessons learned in green practices and further
afield. At the 2025 Conference, presentations included the following topic areas:
Sustainable exhibitions and displays

AI and sustainability and many more
Tackling climate misinformation and disinformation
Delegate testimonials
The Green Libraries Conference was a fantastic opportunity to hear about the breadth of inspiring and important environmental action that libraries across the UK and Ireland are taking, as well as to discuss the challenges we are
all facing and come together with colleagues to share learning and ideas.
This was a wonderful event with amazing speakers - networking and conversations after each talk were insightful creating an environment of like-minded, driven and hopeful professionals who want to make real change towards climate
justice.
One of the best conferences I have attended in years!
It was fantastic to be able to be present at the Green Libraries Conference. I was both inspired and reassured that we can work together and make a difference.
I love that all different kinds of libraries were included...We have so much to learn from one another - so much in common.
