Join library professionals from academic, school, public, legal, and all sectors at the British Library Knowledge Centre on Monday 27 October for a day of discussion and insight on - Planting seeds of change: from small beginnings to a mighty
forest.
From decarbonising our buildings and the increasingly diverse services we offer our users to growing climate literate collections and strengthening community resilience as citizens face worsening environmental volatility, libraries are leading
the way when it comes to climate action.
At the third Green Libraries Conference, library and information professionals of all sectors and levels of experience will gather to reflect, connect and collaborate: mixing best practice examples with inspirational speakers as we take tangible
steps towards a better, more equitable future for people and planet that has the nation’s beloved libraries at its heart.
The Conference will create opportunities for delegates to reflect on the role of libraries, both locally and as a worldwide community of professionals, to share practical advice and lessons learned in green practices across the sector and further
afield. At the 2025 Conference, presentations will include the following topic areas:
- Sustainable exhibitions and displays
- Climate fiction
- Writing a sustainability climate plan
- AI and sustainability
- Professional Registration and climate justice
- Green procurement
Planting seeds of change: from small beginnings to a mighty forest
Through a dynamic mix of cutting-edge keynotes, thought-provoking panel discussions and parallel sessions that bring together a range of sectors, the Green Libraries Conference will inspire professionals and stakeholders to identify and amplify
the difference that their libraries are already making.
We will introduce vital new voices in library-led climate action, exploring themes including sustainability and AI, the facts about climate fiction, environmentally-friendly exhibitions, and ecofeminism in libraries, as well as hearing exciting
updates from familiar faces to discover what ideas have blossomed since last year’s conference.
From the tiniest of seeds, the mightiest of forests can grow; wherever you are on your environmental journey, every library can have a profoundly positive impact. Our conference will evidence the case that society cannot combat the climate crisis
without well-resourced and supported library services. Let's grow!
Bursary applications are now closed.
