CILIP welcomes finding that librarians hold the key to a long & happy marriage

Responding to Danish research carried out by Professor Caroline Uggla reported today in The Times (For a long marriage, librarians play it by the book, 26.09), CILIP has issued a statement welcoming the finding that librarians hold the key to a long and happy marriage.

The research found strong evidence that farmers and librarians are the most faithful spouses, based on a sample of 20 years of marriage data. Responding to these findings, CILIP CEO Nick Poole commented,

“As the UK’s library and information association, CILIP welcomes the findings of this important new research. We are delighted but not surprised that marrying a librarian is the key to a long and happy relationship – there are not many professions which span romance, crime and gardening in a single morning. We would encourage everyone thinking of taking up a career in librarianship to visit our website or contact us to find out more.”

CILIP is the UK’s library and information association. We support, champion and develop librarians and information professionals in more than 20 sectors. To find out more about our work, visit http://www.cilip.org.uk
