Tackling misinformation

Posted By Hannah Martin, 06 November 2024
Hi, I am currently looking into how I can improve on my delivery of information literacy at my school. I was hoping that some librarians from other sectors might have some advice on how they tackle this issue and if there's anything your organisation does to combat misinformation? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks, Hannah

Hi Hannah, I am a school librarian. I am the Primary School Librarian for an international school in Zurich. Commensense.org have some useful resources - https://www.commonsense.org/education/digital-citizenship/curriculum?grades=3%2C4%2C5&topic=news--media-literacy.

Also, I don't know if your school uses libguides but if you go to libguides community - https://community.libguides.com/ you can search for information literacy and narrow your search to "k-12 school or district". This will find the libguide pages for schools around the world. I'm sure you will find something interesting here if you are prepared to dig around a little. Good luck. Ian
