Life is going green at the British Library. We are holding a variety of events during Green Libraries Week (27th Oct - 2nd Nov) - keep an eye over the next couple of months (https://events.bl.uk/). An early alert to one GLW25 event that is already open for booking - Libraries and positive climate action. One of a series of events, this event is focussed on carbon literacy and what libraries are doing to help in this challenging situation. Tickets are free: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/libraries-and-positive-climate-action-inform-to-transform-tickets-1480282437619?aff=oddtdtcreator. This event is taking place on Thursday 30th October. Thank you.

Hi,
I am currently looking into how I can improve on my delivery of information literacy at my school. I was hoping that some librarians from other sectors might have some advice on how they tackle this issue and if there's anything your organisation does to combat misinformation? Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Hannah

Happy New Year to all in the Digital Technology Group!
Please join us for our first webinar of 2024, especially if your library is considering migrating digitised special collections to a different DAMS and website creation system ... or even building new digital collections from scratch:
Successfully migrating digital collections: three institutions share their experiences of achieving their migration objectives | Wednesday 17 January 2024 | 5:00pm GMT
Whatever is driving your migration to a new digital collections platform, you are committing to a long-term investment that requires significant planning, resources and strategic buy-in. As such, it also demands a flexible, customer-led approach from your platform provider’s customer experience team.
Join this panel discussion to hear the experiences of Rice University, the University of Portland and Durham County Library, all of which have recently undertaken this transformative journey with AM Quartex, each migrating vastly different scales of collections from different legacy systems. Discover the key ingredients that contributed to these successful migrations and how each of these partners achieved their specific objectives.

Hi Everyone.
I trust this email finds you all well and gearing up (or is it powering down) for the holidays.
We recently had one of our library database vendors report "suspicious activity" with over 600 pdf downloads in an hour. Could it be possible that this is the result of a student using an AI research tool like Keenious or SciSpace?
And if the prohibited part of the library database license agreement states... "use any robots, spiders, crawlers or other automated downloading programs, algorithms or devices to continuously and automatically search, scrape, extract, deep link, index or disrupt the working of the ebooks" ... can the AI tools be seen as “automated downloading programs” given that the user asks the tool to search for them and does not do so “continuously”?
I would be interested to hear anyone's thoughts. This has just happened to us and is still under investigation.
As I am new to this group, please excuse me if this topic has surfaced before.
Regards
Debby

Looking for a digital asset management system (DAMS)? Meet AM at the CILIP Supplier Showcase on 30th November.
https://www.cilip.org.uk/page/CILIPShowcaseAutumn2022
Chat with Oliver Stacy and Martin Drewe about your library’s digitised special collections and your plans for showcasing your unique materials to your user community.
With this understanding, we'll tailor a short demo that will show you how our digital collections platform, AM Quartex, can adapt to meet your needs.
We will also share examples of our work with libraries and archives from the UK and across the globe, from new and migrated collections, strengthened community engagement, and the opportunity to unite disparate archives or collaborate with partners on new digital humanities projects.
Book a meeting with us by emailing oliver@amdigital.co.uk. We look forward to meeting you.
