The AGM and Professional Development Day will take place on Tuesday 22nd April at the Engine Shed, just a couple of minutes walk from Bristol Temple Meads train station.
The morning events are also available online via Zoom.
The day will include a virtual workshop on Bluesky for Libraries, Museums and Archives, plus an in-person careers panel on alternative careers in library, information and knowledge.
The day will conclude with a tour of the Library and Museum at John Wesley's New Room.

CILIP South West AGM and Professional Development Day Tuesday 22nd April 2025 at the Engine Shed, Station Approach, Temple Meads, Bristol BS1 6QH 9.00am: Engine Shed opens. CILIP South West meeting will be in Brunel’s Boardroom. 9.15am: Refreshments laid on 10.30am: Virtual Workshop - Bluesky for Libraries, Archives and Museums. A virtual workshop offered due to the exploding popularity of Bluesky as an alternative to Twitter. If your organisation is ex-X, Bluesky now offers a genuine alternative, and the workshop covers what works, what doesn’t, starter packs and custom feeds, posting media, and exampled of successful accounts. Attendees will benefit from bringing an appropriate device to the session. The virtual workshop will be run by Ned Potter. He is an Academic Liaison Librarian at the University of York and also a trainer in library marketing, and presentation skills, for various organisations including the Bodleian Libraries, the British Library, and the NHS. Helene Russell (KM consultant) will host a panel discussion on alternative careers in library, information and knowledge. Learn about the nature and culture of various sectors, and the skills and qualifications needed to work there. 300 years ago, John Wesley started a mission in Bristol that sparked a worldwide movement, and Bristol’s New Room is the oldest Methodist building in the world. The Reference Library contains over 9,000 books, pamphlets and bound journals of Methodist history, local studies, biographies, and critical studies of John and Charles Wesley and their works. Just £13 each. Pay individually. 3.30pm: Close. CILIP SW committee members will walk back to the train station from John Wesley's New Room.
