CILIP and SLA Yorkshire & Humberside double-trouble AGM, talk and library tour
Saturday 9th June
Please join the Yorkshire & Humberside branches of CILIP and the School Library Association for a joint event. It will include a talk by author and costume historian Lucy Adlington on female voices in historical fiction about the early 20th century, afternoon tea and cakes, and a tour of the J.B. Priestley Library at the University of Bradford (take an advance peek with their 360° tour). The AGMs will be cunningly sandwiched between the more exciting elements of the afternoon.
Note: You do not have to be a member of CILIP or the SLA to attend this event - it is open and free to anybody interested, though only members of these bodies may vote at their respective AGMs.
Programme:
2:00 – 2:15pm – registration
2:15 – 3:15pm – talk by Lucy Adlington on female voices in historical fiction
3:15 – 3:45pm – afternoon tea
3:45 – 4:15pm – AGMs (concurrent, in two separate rooms)
4:15 – 5:00pm – tour of J.B. Priestley Library
After 5pm – wander into town to get drinks/food in the Sunbridge Wells area
The Re:Centre (aka Bright Building) is number 17 on the campus map.
The University of Bradford is a 20-minute walk from Bradford Interchange or Forster Square railway stations. For buses, from Bradford Interchange hop on the 576 or 610, alighting at the Great Horton Road Ashgrove stop. Visitor parking is available free on campus on Saturdays - drivers need to press the intercom at the main entrance on Great Horton Road, tell Security that they’re coming for the 'CILIP and SLA meeting', park in the visitors’ car park on the right, then go to the Richmond Building Reception and get a permit to display in their car.
