CILIP London CritLib Talks: Decolonisation and Diversity of Sources
Friday 21st January 2022, 13:00 until 14:00
FREE event
This session is intended as an introduction to decolonisation and implications for library staff. It will briefly outline the history of the movement, with focus on worldwide student actions. It will also discuss the complexities of decolonising: language,
privilege, underrepresentation and its effects on librarianship and the wider field.
In addition, there will be information on inclusive collection development processes including acquisition of diverse sources, Open Access and critical information literacy. The session will also highlight other institutions who have undertaken work in
the area and identify sources of support for those starting to explore this subject area. This talk has a HE focus but does draw on other sectors.
Sometimes this work can be challenging and you may want to ask a question anonymously. The speaker has created a padlet so you can anonymously post and I will answer it in the session: Padlet
