Dear Colleagues,
You are invited to participate in a research study exploring the Use of Learning Analytics in Higher Education Academic Library Online Instruction.
Use of Learning Analytics in Higher Education Academic Library Online Instruction Survey:

The survey will take approximately 20 – 30 minutes to complete on average.
Intended Participants:
- academic librarians who capture, use data or are interested in learning analytics to support and assess the impact of their academic library online instruction / teaching
- employed by higher education academic libraries
The survey focuses on the following questions:
- How do higher education academic librarians currently use data to measure and support their academic library online instruction?
- What are some of the methods, tools, and practices that are implemented in higher education academic library online instruction learning analytics?
- To what extent are higher education academic library online instruction data initiatives aligned with institutional learning analytics initiatives?
- What are the institutional supports that benefit and the challenges that hinder adoption of learning analytics approaches in higher education academic libraries?
- What supports do higher education academic librarians require to develop skills and apply knowledge to support their learning analytics activities?
Participants will have the opportunity to benefit from reflecting on their teaching and instruction practices and share your experiences with using learning analytics at your institution.
The results of the research study will be shared to provide a current picture of the use of learning analytics in higher education academic library online instruction to encourage greater awareness of learning analytics, including benefits and challenges. Librarians, library staff, and library administrators will have an opportunity to share information regarding benefits and challenges with learning analytics initiatives related to their academic library online instruction and supports needed to develop librarian learning analytics skills and application of knowledge to improve higher education academic library online instruction.
Survey responses are anonymous, and only randomly generated identifiers will be associated with your response.
The research study is being undertaken by Simone Laughton, Head of Library & Instructional Technologies at the University of Toronto Mississauga Library.
This research has been approved by the Research Ethics Board at the University of Toronto. If you have any questions or concerns about this project, you may contact the above-named persons or the Office of Research Ethics, University of Toronto at ethics.review@utoronto.ca or 416-946-3273. Further details are included in the “informed consent” text (first question of the survey).
The survey will be available until February 28th, 2025.

General Email Submission Instructions/Format
Email subject should read: 2024 Photo Gallery
In the email, please provide the following information:
1. Project title (a short title for your library's project)
2. Library and its affiliation (example: Fogler Library, University of Maine)
3. Library location (State/Province, Country; example: Michigan, USA)
4. Library type (select from the following: Academic library, Public library, School library, Special library, or other)
5. Project description (in under 200 words, please describe why this project best demonstrates the value of celebrating our past and looking toward our future.
6. Alternate text (Alt-text) for photo and video description. Information on Alt-text can be found here.
7. Project contact person and email (preferred but optional; the contact information will be publicly displayed)
8. Preferred attribution for the image (name of image owner)
*Image requirements: please provide the image with the highest resolution you have; a horizontal photo that is at least 5400 pixels wide with 300 dpi is preferred.
***Notice - With this submission, you grant the ALA, IRRT and ICNC full permission to distribute, edit and build upon your work with attribution.
