CLSIG Committee members

Alex Pooley - Chair

Alex is responsible for the vision and strategy for the group, as well as being the first point of contact when liaising with external associations and groups.

Alex is a Chartered Librarian who has been working in international law firms since 2008. She joined the CLSIG committee in 2016.

Jo Bailey - Vice Chair

The Vice Chair supports the Chair in working for the vision and strategy for CLSIG, and in liason with external associations and groups.

Josephine Bailey first entered the library profession as a Junior Library Assistant at Cambridge University Library in 2013 before progressing to a position as LLM and MCL Collection Supervisor at the Squire Law Library in 2015. Josephine has recently graduated with a Masters in Library and Information Services Management from the University of Sheffield and has moved into the world of Information Management for local government. She volunteers as co-treasurer of the CILIP East Members Network Committee and vice-chair & secretary of the Commercial, Legal and Scientific Information Group. Josephine also sits on the Cambridge County Advisory Group On Archives And Local Studies.

Penny Bailey - Hon Treasurer

Penny is the Treasurer for the group, responsible for keeping our accounts and reporting back to the committee. Contact Penny if you need to claim expenses or if you have a question about our accounts. Penny also looks after publicity for the Group.

Professional experience

Penny first qualified as a Chartered Librarian and worked in academic and workplace libraries. From 1991 she worked as a freelance librarian and self-employed consultant and during this period Penny taught herself programming in order to write her own library system. In 1998 Penny swapped to freelance programming and worked on projects for local businesses. Around 2002 Penny realised that she could combine her experience of library software and programming to create library software products, so she set up Bailey Solutions Limited which now has over 200 library clients globally.

Library profession involvement

Penny has been web editor of The British and Irish Association of Law Libraries website and in 2006 won an award for her work. In 2008 Penny was a finalist in the Institute of Director, Southeast Region’s Director of the Year Award. In addition Penny is a Women’s Enterprise Advocate and has an active interest in encouraging women into the computing industry.

Caitlin Moore - Membership Secretary

Our Membership Secretary ensures that membership development features on the agenda for the Group committee at regular intervals (e.g., once every 6 months); promotes activities that retain members and promote membership growth; and liaises with CILIP for membership information.

Kristie Jelfs - Publicity Officer

Our Publicity Officer looks after publicity to members and further afield for the Commercial, Legal and Science Information Group (CLSIG), which includes producing our monthly newsletter.

Katie Treherne - Web Editor

The Web Editor is responsible for maintaining and keeping the content on our website up-to-date. If you notice something needs correcting, please contact me.

Professional experience

Katie has worked in both academic and commercial law libraries since she was a trainee at the Bodleian Law Library. Katie has previously held roles at Manches, Blake Lapthorn, Evalueserve, Linacre College and the University of Oxford. She currently works for the NHS.

Sponsorship Coordinator - Vacant

Our coordinator arranges sponsorship for the group, providing funding for events and publicity for organisations and suppliers in which members may be interested.

CLSIG Journal Team

The CLSIG Editorial Team are responsible for sourcing articles for the CLSIG Journal and its production.

Richard Gaston - Journal Editor

Our Journal Editor is responsible for the production of the quarterly CLSIG Journal, which began at the start of 2013. The work includes finding a theme for each issue, inviting contributions and production of the final publication.

Richard is Research Services Manager at Addleshaw Goddard. He has previously worked at the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA), Lehman Brothers and the University of Exeter.

Lindsay Bradley - Assistant Editor

The Assistant Editor helps the CLISG Journal editors by formatting journal content and meeting deadlines.

Professional experience

Lindsay is the Knowledge Services Manager at Western Isles Hospital Library on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland. She is also a member of the Health Libraries Group.

 

CLSIG Events Team

The CLSIG Events Team organise venues, co-ordinate attendance and liaise with out hosts and speakers to make sure our events run smoothly.
